A fairly large project developed for The Garage inc.
The project consists of two parts: the fishing portal
(www.fisheyesoup.com) and a number of member sites.
Here is how it works: any business related to fishing
and willing to have presence on the internet buys a
Web Site Membership. It takes just a few minutes to
set up an account and a new member is then able to
log in to his site control panel and add content to
his site. The member site includes the following
features:
- ability to choose site layout from the predefined
set of site templates;
- the following modules specific to the fishing
industry are available: fishing reports, photo
gallery, articles, guided trips, excursions,
products, contact page, links and an event calendar;
- ability to add any number of custom pages;
- mailing list;
- a full site stats available at any moment, allowing
admin to keep track of site visitors, viewed pages,
site searches, etc.
- ability to manage every aspect of the site via the
web based control panel.

Site makes extensive use of PHP and a MySQL database to
dynamically assemble pages based on the user's choices and
actions.
This site consists of the following applications, specially
designed to work together:
- internet shop (includes products catalog, products
ratings, shopping cart; payments are made through PayPal);
- account signup and creation script, password retrieval
system;
- products reviews system;
- eCards (sending greeting cards on the topic of magic);
- forum (I adjusted a free phpBB forum system for this site);
- links application (browsing links by category,
links ratings, submitting new links by registered users);
- administrator area clues all the pieces together, allows to
easily manage the site. |
